CCAA newsletter auction calls

At left is a duck call donated by Joel Harris of Troy Tennessee, featuring his style of finely checkered raised panels on a black walnut barrel with a highly polished narrow brass band.  The finish is immaculate as only Joel can do.  This call has a Reelfoot style toneboard of African Blackwood and the stopper is also checked on four down panels.

The goose call at right was turned from a high quality kit supplied by Greg Keats of Rockville, Maryland.  This kit is shown in Figure 2.15, page 22, of the book Turning Custom Duck and Game Calls and features a figured maple barrel and Cocobolo stopper.   Ed Glenn of Boardman, Oregon turned this call while he and Greg were writing the book.  The barrel with a pinned brass band added is shown on the cover.  This will be the only collaboration by the co-authors and will be accompanied by a copy in the limited edition of numbered and signed books.

James Bennett won the Joel Harris call with a bid of $300.00  No bids were received on the Glenn/Keats call so I will contribute the minimum of $100.00 as promised.

All proceeds of the auction of these calls will be used to enhance the CCAA newsletter through additional pages of content or for color printing of special items where full color is appropriate.
