Billy Hays of Milan, Tennessee,
sent me this call along with his first prototype of the HAYS ORIGINAL
BRASS RINGER. Billy told me later that he sold a very similar call to a Florida collector for $350. I had no idea just what this extra bit in the box with the prototype would mean to someone other than me. To me, it will be a great memento to the work Billy and I have done to perfect the BRASS RINGER. I haven't yet decided just what I will send Billy in exchange but I'll turn something special and it will be part of his collection. This call has an Arkansas style single reed toneboard and sounds very ducky for a wormy old piece of wood. |

| This is my
first Billy Hays call,
acquired at the 2006 Reelfoot Lake Waterfowl Festival. Billy had
asked me to help authenticate his claim to the World Record for the
longest functional duck call. In the process we became friends and
I traded one of my calls to Billy for this one. Billy and his father, J.W. Hays, of Milan, Tennessee, were doing business as Duck Whisperers and I met the elder Hays as well. This call is black walnut, turned in Billy's unique style of multiple full beads and ring grooves. It is an Arkansas style single reed with a great sound. Billy can be contacted through his website: http://duckwhisperers.com
