HAYS ORIGINAL BRASS RINGER
| After months of research and development, the HAYS ORIGINAL BRASS RINGER is now ready to ship. Only a few are now ready, all with the .5" roller. The tool is designed to apply rings of that width to turned game calls that will never come off, all in seconds. The principal is relatively simple. The roller is designed with very narrow flanges on each side and smaller diameter shoulders next to the flanges. When pressure is exerted on the 7.5" handle over the tool rest, the shoulder engage the ring and the flanges guide the displaced metal into small V-grooves in the call blank. | The HAYS ORIGINAL BRASS RINGER basic tool consists of a handle (1" wide x .5" thick x 7.5" long) milled to accept a .5" thick roller. The roller is carried on a .25" axel held in place by a small set screw. The tool comes with a 1/16" hex wrench which fits the set screw. Additional rollers will be added to the product line for installation of .375" and .25" wide bands. When these rollers are available, you'll be able to order the tool with your choice. Since all the rollers are the same width at the hub, individual rollers may be added to any tool handle at a later date. | ![]() |
| Here is an assortment of duck call barrels with bands applied with the HAYS ORIGINAL BRASS RINGER. As you can see the tool works on brass, aluminum and copper. The three sizes are shown, .5"; .375" and .25". On the two barrels on the left, I have intentionally left the marks left on the bands by the Ringer's shoulders. You can see how those marks can be turned away, if you choose. | ![]() |
